10,000 Islands

I know.. I skipped a whole bunch of blog posts since Christmas. At this point, sorry to say, but they're probably just not going to happen! But since I happen to be SICK on my Spring Break (booooo), and really not going anywhere, I've been catching up on my pictures for our 2016 photo album. So since I'm in picture mode and have out the ones I like, might as well throw them into a quick blog post. ;)

We spent last weekend in Naples with Granddad and Gigi (and Ginny and Randy!) and had a really nice visit. Even though I started to come down with a cold about halfway through the weekend, we still managed to get in some beach time, some coffee-on-the-lanai time, and some yummy meals.

On Sunday morning, we got up early and drove down to Everglades City to take the 10,000 Islands boat tour out of the Everglades National Park Gulf Coast visitor center. I've/we've done plenty of Everglades exploring over on our side of the state recently, but we haven't been back to the west coast side of the Everglades since Jake took me on a Valentine's airboat ride a few years ago. The 10,000 Islands boat tour is pretty much the only park-run tour we hadn't yet taken.

One of the only places in the park where you can see all 3 mangrove species side-by-side in one spot. Red on the left, black in the middle, and white on the right. You can tell by the slight variation in the color of the leaves.
